Today was the fetal MRI. It took a little over an hour and Madelyn was moving around a lot everytime the machine turned on. The radiologist reviewed the scans with us afterwards and said that he doesn't see any other problems aside from the enlarged ventricles. He was also able to see where the two hemispheres connected (the corpus callosum). We were happy about the results of the MRI. Then we went over to the perinatologist's office for another ultrasound. Madelyn was covering her face with her hands and moving around a lot, like always! We also got some 3-D pictures of her face and she definitely has her daddy's nose. She is beautiful! The amniotic fluid went down from the last appointment and is in the normal range now. We asked the doctor about her eyes, and she said they weren't too close together anymore. Her ventricles measured 15mm (down from 16mm the last two months). They were still not able to see her corpus callosum on the ultrasound, but Richard and I decided the MRI is probably more accurate for viewing that part of her brain. Her head circumference and other measurements were in the average range. So overall, great news today! Today was the first day in a couple of months that I have really felt like everything is going to be OK. We are so thankful for the smaller ventricles and the corpus callosum finding on the MRI- I know it is a blessing from God. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Madelyn. We feel so blessed to have so many people in our lives who love and support us. Please continue to pray for Madelyn's brain development.
This picture is me at 26 weeks. I am 28 weeks now and in the third trimester!
