Neurologist and Nursery

On Friday, we had an appointment with the Neurologist. He spent a lot of time looking over Madelyn's MRI pictures and reports from all her doctors. He thinks that part of her corpus callosum (it is the part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres) did not develop and that caused her ventricles to be enlarged. He does not think that they are enlarged because of extra fluid on her brain. So if he is right, then her ventricles should stay the same size and she won't need a shunt when she is born. He said that the best case is that Madelyn is completely normal. The worst case is that she will have mild delays- more likely in the area of language than in motor skills- and we might not even notice any problems until she starts school. We were so relieved that he anticipates only mild problems if there are any at all. At some point after she is born, they will do an MRI and we will meet with the neurologist again to get a better idea of how much of her corpus callosum is there and the outcome.

Madelyn has been moving alot; she is kicking right now as I am typing. We finished up the nursery last week and I am posting some pictures. The walls are a creamy-yellow color. Only 10 weeks to go!
